This awesome kitchen island and stools were made for Dawn and her crew in thier new Tampa, FL home (new to them - the house was actually built in 1926!).  Dawn wanted a gathering place in her kitchen that could serve as a work station, eating spot, and general family meeting space (you know - doing homework, hanging out, etc...).  The counter measures around 5' long and 32" wide, and stands 38" tall.  The top is made of massive 3" thick planks salvaged from a 1940's warehouse in Tampa.  The base features another 3" thick shelf and two drawers with classic "bin pull" hardware.  Dawn requested the cool door-knob "towel holder" and Shawn added the always needed bottle-opener on the right.  To give everyone a seat, Shawn had his welder make the 5 stool bases and added some of the same 3" thick planks as the tops.  All together, an awesome island and stools for an awesome family!
